Thought I had better let you know what we have been doing since the summer.
Mostly I have been painting.
To give back to the art world I have been teaching at the Kingston School of Art. My last class for the year is Sunday, November 30. I donate my time and teaching abilities to the school, as money is hard to get from the local government for the arts. I expect to hold a weekend session at the school in the spring. | Every now and then we artists change direction and that is what happened to me these past few months. I have completed a series of semi abstract oil paintings of Paris, Brussels, Venice Old Montreal and even Kingston. These paintings have been well received and the limited edition prints of Pont Neuf, Paris and Venice Dawn are the most popular. |
 | The Great Wall of China is my most recent and not too many people have seen it as only yesterday I framed it and hung it at the front entrance. Limited Edition prints will be available in December. All our Limited Edition giclee type prints are limited to only 60 worldwide which makes them truly limited.
As everyone else we have the usual home improvements requirements and have had workman here most of the fall making the repairs to decks, windows, etc. All are completed now so the house is more peaceful. |
 | Robere (my wife) is still enjoying the agility classes with both our dogs. Raven our 4-year Rottweiler excels in agility and Bogie our 20-month-old labradoodle loves the jumping and has fun. He will be back in class in January.
In October Robere took Bogie to Belleville chapter of St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog program to have him tested. He passed with flying colours and is now a certified St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog and will be visiting patients in Kingston General Hospital every Monday morning. |

Summer Highlights
We had an excellent show in August at Gallery -on– the Lake in Buckhorn, Ontario. This gallery is on the shores of the lake and features many artists often having over 2000 pieces of art to view.
Robere thought she would like to stay home for a change this summer and so we did.
The gardens and dogs kept her busy and I was able to paint on the rainy days.
I completed a special painting for the OPP Auxiliary’s 50th Anniversay, which isn’t until 2010. The print was so appealing that the OPP Auxiliary couldn’t wait to show it off and so was unveiled the weekend of September 12 and was immediately a hit with the auxiliary. | Bogie, our labradoodle is in this painting, lying on the dock. |
Our house is now 30 years old and so this summer many workmen were around repairing, chimneys, residing a couple of buildings, new shingles on the studio etc.
We have rented space at the Cataraqui Shopping Centre in Kingston for the weekend of Thanksgiving, just Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, Oct 9,10, & 11 this means that on Sunday we can still have our Turkey dinner with family and friends. Then the following Friday and Saturday, that is Oct. 17th & 18th, we are having our Fall Open House to show Jim’s latest paintings. Hours from 1p.m. to 5p.m.
Visiting here you will have some appreciation of this peaceful, inspiring place. Living here is truly uplifting, tranquil and inspiring. I hope living withy art brings you some of the peace I feel. |
